A few useful answers

Comprehensible input, made practical.

What is comprehensible input in German?

It is German you can understand well enough to follow the meaning, even when a little of the language is new. Here, the focus is written input: short sentences, optional reading help and difficulty that responds to your feedback.

How do I find German input at my level?

Start with the reader below and rate each sentence honestly. Mark unfamiliar words and use “Too hard” when you cannot comfortably follow the meaning. The reader starts with easier material and adjusts its selection over time; the first sentence may not match your level.

Is this German listening practice?

No. This is reading-based comprehensible input, not an audio or video library. Use it alongside German listening and conversation practice rather than as a replacement.

Should I translate every sentence?

You can reveal a translation in your selected interface language when you need it, but try following the German meaning first. Word meanings and sentence translations need JavaScript and configured AI reading help; they can be mistaken. You can still mark words and save feedback if help is unavailable.

Where do the German sentences come from?

The reader uses attributed community sentences from Tatoeba, with the original text unchanged. Each card links to its source, contributor and licence. These are individual sentences, not connected stories or a structured course.

Is the German input free?

You can complete 10 German sentences without an account, shared across the app’s German pages. Every other language has its own 10-sentence allowance. After that, register and subscribe for £2 per month for unlimited reading. Visiting another German page does not restart the allowance.
